always looking forward

In my line of work, you either go move up, or you move down; there's nothing in between. It's not something very hard to do, but you need a lot of discipline and consistency. You need to be a VERY good emotions manager because it affects everything. When you're physically tired, you may still be able to stay strong because you're mentally fit. If you're weak, then it's goodbye to both.

Many people choose to stay mediocre most of their life (I hate to use the word "fail" because I don't think it's fate, it's something they chose). Choice, on the other hand is a good word. If you settle for 2nd best, then you'll be okay with not having anything like "everybody" else. You compare to those who are not any better than you so you won't feel so bad.

That's what they call a crowd mentality. That's 97%.

A clear cut of abuse: the definition of "contentment" and the term "forgetting your roots". They are also the mockers, the one that silently rooting for you to fail.

Funny how they portray the "outcast" in the movies who are usually the minority and later on become the hero at the end. That's 3% for you. Maybe not all, but heard of, "What does not kill you can only make you stronger"?

Life is a constant challenge, you have to do your own filter, basically design the way you want it to be. I think the main issue is that people let "fate" take control; let people decide how you should lead your life, starting from childhood. It's not that your parents are sadists or anything but it was how they probably being led in their life.

Go to school, get good grades, get a degree, get a good job, start a family, have kids, work till you're 65, retire and wait for your time.

When we start "giving up" or follow the crowd; it's where you would never have live your dream. I'm not saying , don't get a job. Yes, job opportunities are good for some because if everybody decides to be their own boss, then well, who's supposed to work?

I'm talking to you. Yes, you. You, who has a dream, maybe a big one. Maybe you think you deserve a better life. I think you do, if you have a dream. You just need to not give up.

Life's a climb, but the view's great.

Questions I always ask myself

Do you have questions you ask yourself sometimes? I think everybody is their greatest critic. By that, people change, for the better or for worse. Like the blue skies, it's not unique or really important but it needs to be there.

I'm also not sure where I'm heading but I'm talking about questions, reflections, whatever you call it. It's part of the daily things you do subconsciously when you drift away in your dreams and doodling; when you wander off in thoughts- that's what I'm talking about.
My top 5 questions:

#1 Am I a giver or a taker?

Give freely, and be rewarded. Most of the people that say, "I'm not a good receiver" are simply those who are takers. By sacrificing yourself to help someone that you love- in which they can do by themselves are considered as taking.

#2 What kind of person who will deliver this?

If you're a messy person, ask yourself, what kind of person this is?
If you don't like your current self now, best thing is that you can change! Isn't that great?

#3 What is my dream? My purpose in life?

If you don't have a dream, you're working towards someone else's dreams. Please do not try to use your current circumstances as an excuse to not being to be able to achieve yours. It's simply not worth it.

#4 How many Saturdays do I have left?

Let's say we live till 75 years old. You're 20, and you have 55 years to go. We have 52 saturdays a year x 55 which equals 2860 Saturdays. Not much; so what are you going to make sure you enjoy and live to the fullest all the Saturdays of your life?

#5 What would my eulogy be like?

She did most things she wanted to do
She breathed life into others
She was not the most likeable, but she was a true friend
She died without regrets

looking for mr darcy

Not that I've religiously read "Pride and Prejudice"; the truth is I don't exactly have the ability to comprehend such fine literature, other examples like "To Kill a Mockingbird". Really, I can't even get through the first page. Or any of Tolkien's LOTR (thank God for the films). Now you know. ;)

Yesterday, Mrs Cris and I were texting (yes, we're still high school that way) about the search of our Mr. Darcy, Dr Mcdreamy, Prince Charming (either non existent, not available, married or gay). It's such a dilemma for some, and I'm not having a "40 year old virgin" talk here.

Yes, our parents and grandparents or people 20-50 years back tied the knot in their early years, and so, as we progress, women became more independent and have theme songs like "I don't need a man" or "Single Ladies" and of course, maybe the fact that we outnumber men could be related to that as well.

My idea of a better half is not just for the sake of looking for "someone", get married, have children, live happily ever after. The focus for most is the wedding of the century, the perfect location, dress, honeymoon suite, the champagne. And it usually ends up in a cliche divorce, if you're "smart" enough, you have the pre-nuptials signed. What I'm trying to say is that, marriage these days are like business deals. Even relationships. The boy-likes-girl-vice versa is no longer that simple.

The way people "commit" into relationships is such a sad scenario like there's a limited supply. You compromise your values, your beliefs, change yourself for a person (in not a good way), lower your standards. Just like when you see the "perfect" pair of jeans, and because they sold out the size you wanted, you settled for a pair that doesn't fit you and then usually you regret buying it in the first place.

Your friend's advice like Katy Perry "Hot N Cold", you go into a relationship like you change clothes. Isn't that some "good" advice?

At the end of the day, you should listen to advice like "Butterfly Fly Away" instead.

Caterpillar in the tree
How you wonder who you'll be
Can't go far but you can always dream

Wish you may and wish you might
Don't you worry, hold on tight
I promise there will come a day
Butterfly, fly away
